A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
EXPRESSING SUPPORT FOR SPECIALIST THIRD CLASS MICHAEL NEW FOR REFUSING TO SERVE THE UNITED NATIONS.

Whereas, Specialist Third Class Michael New is a member of the 103rd Infantry of the United States Army who has stated that he will not comply with orders to wear the beret and insignia of the United Nations on his uniform; and

Whereas, Michael New has indicated his willingness to fight and die for his country and has proven his dedication through his service in Operation Desert Storm; and

Whereas, the Constitution and bylaws of the United Nations frequently are in conflict with the Constitution and laws of the United States; and

Whereas, the President and past President of the United States have unconstitutionally transferred their authority to United Nations commanders without the consent of Congress; and

Whereas, Michael New took the oath of office to support the Constitution of the United States and not that of a foreign power or the United Nations, and he has stated his refusal to serve under a foreign command; and

Whereas, as a result of his noncompliance with orders to wear the beret and insignia of the United Nations, Michael New is now subject to court martial and is being tried in Germany;

Therefore

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of Arizona, the Senate concurring:

1. That the members of the Forty-second Legislature of the State of Arizona object to American servicemen and servicewomen being forced to serve as members of the Armed Forces of the United Nations or under a foreign command and express their support for Specialist Third Class Michael New for his efforts to resist such service.

2. That the Secretary of State of the State of Arizona transmit certified copies of this Resolution to the Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, to the President of the United States Senate, to the Secretary-General of the United Nations and to each Member of the Arizona Congressional Delegation.
